This Fourth of July, The Killer Bees threw down an urban cookout reminiscent of the 1970's. My rock star neighbor, Andy Pagel, and his gal Colleen, fired up the grill and pulled out the vinyl records. King Douglas and Queen Mary Krimmer were some of the fabulous attendees, including Andy's band mates from Western Box Turtles and Liam Ford Band. The food was extreme picnic: organic potato salad, baked beans, homemade salsa, grilled brats, and of course, coolers brimming with beer. The fire pit chased away the hungry mosquitoes, and we watched the fireworks at Washington Park. Later that night, we gathered in a circle to share stories, laughter AND my birthday cake - Michael's "rhubarb custard right-side up" cake - made with love!
